Childhood Care & Immunisations

All of our GPs have paediatric hospital training. We treat common childhood illnesses, provide developmental assessments, and address parental concerns with care and expertise. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment for children and families.

Under 8s GP Visit Card

Children under 8 are entitled to free GP visits under the Under 8s GP Visit Card scheme. This covers:

• Free GP visits
• Urgent out-of-hours GP care
• Asthma care

Please note that medication costs and hospital charges are not included. Contact reception to register your child — you will need their PPS number, birth certificate, and your own PPS number.

Primary Childhood Immunisations

Immunisation is a safe and effective way to protect babies and children from serious diseases. We administer the full HSE Primary Childhood Immunisation Schedule from 2 months of age. Please contact reception to book immunisation appointments. Our nursing team administers all childhood vaccines and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

School Vaccine Programme

The following vaccines are provided through the school immunisation programme:

• Junior Infants: 4-in-1 booster and MMR vaccine
• First year secondary school: HPV vaccine, Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Whooping cough), and MenACWY

All school vaccines are provided free of charge.

HPV Vaccine

The HPV vaccine is offered to all boys and girls through the school programme. HPV can cause several cancers including cervical, anal, throat, penile, and vulval cancers, as well as genital warts. The more young people vaccinated, the better we can control the spread of the infection in the wider community.

Flu Vaccine for Children

Children aged 2–17 receive a free annual nasal flu vaccine. The nasal spray vaccine is quick and painless — a much more comfortable experience than an injection. Please call reception to book this each autumn.
